Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is my great privilege to welcome you to the 22nd Annual Meeting of the Middle East Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery .
The Middle East occupies a unique place on the world map — a natural geographic crossroads where Europe, Asia, and Africa meet. This strategic position has long made our region one of the world's finest platforms for genuine intercontinental collaboration in medicine and science.
For more than two decades, MEOTO has embodied that spirit. As we mark our 22nd conference year, we celebrate the academy's remarkable journey: from its early beginnings to its current status as the premier otolaryngology meeting in the region, consistently bringing global leaders in the specialty to the Middle East and fostering connections that strengthen practice and improve patient care across continents.
A hallmark of the MEOTO experience has been the outstanding workshops that accompany the main scientific program. These hands-on sessions have become a defining feature of the meeting — practical, high-quality, and transformative for participants seeking to refine their skills.
Equally exciting is the growth of MEOTO Grand Rounds, our new virtual educational series that continues to connect otolaryngologists across the globe, delivering high-calibre discussions and expert insights throughout the year.
This year's meeting is especially meaningful as we welcome our guest partner societies — the Qatari, Kenyan, and South African national societies — whose delegations will have dedicated opportunities to share their outstanding work and perspectives. We are also delighted that more than 100 experts from around the world will join us, presenting cutting-edge advances that range from artificial intelligence applications in otolaryngology to the latest genetic therapies now entering clinical practice, alongside important progress in complex airway reconstruction, cochlear implantation, rhinology, and head and neck oncology.
I particularly encourage residents and young otolaryngologists to submit abstracts, with top submissions being awarded travel sponsorships to support their participation — a wonderful opportunity to present their work on an international stage. We are also eager to make this edition of MEOTO especially rewarding for trainees. Training programs globally are invited to form teams of three and compete in the “MEOTO Brain Bowl” — our new annual trainee quiz competition. The winning team will earn lasting bragging rights, a trophy, a cash prize, and free registration to the following year's MEOTO conference.
Finally, we look forward to hosting you at a superb black-tie gala dinner with live entertainment in the heart of Dubai. For those of you travelling from afar, here's a little-known fact that still surprises many visitors: Dubai is home to one of the world's largest indoor ski slopes — complete with real snow and even a black diamond run — right in the middle of the desert!
